What is Apexogenesis?

Apexogenesis is a vital pulp therapy procedure performed to encourage natural root development in immature permanent teeth. This treatment is most often recommended for children or young adults who have suffered dental trauma or deep decay, but whose tooth pulp is still alive and capable of healing.

Apexogenesis Procedure at CRAFT32

1. Clinical Evaluation & Digital Imaging

We assess the health of the tooth and its root development using digital X-rays and pulp testing.

2. Anesthesia & Isolation

Local anesthesia is administered to ensure the child feels no discomfort. The tooth is isolated to maintain a sterile field.

3. Removal of Affected Tissue

Only the inflamed or damaged portion of the pulp is removed, preserving the healthy part.

4. Placement of Medicament

A biocompatible material (such as MTA or calcium hydroxide) is placed over the remaining healthy pulp to promote healing and root development.

5. Temporary/Final Restoration

A filling or crown is placed to seal the tooth and prevent contamination.

6. Follow-Up & Monitoring

The tooth is monitored periodically through follow-up visits to assess root development and overall healing.
